For roughly the first 300 years of its’ existence, Christianity was an illegal religion. Followers of Christ were tortured, forced to face wild beasts in the arena, and otherwise persecuted horribly. But still, somehow, they thrived. Not only did the early church survive severe persecution, the early Christians boldly proclaimed their message about Jesus. They didn’t just preach; they lived as totally devoted followers of Jesus. The result? They changed the world.
Today’s Church doesn’t seem so ambitious. In America, many Christians seem complacent and satisfied to limit their spiritual experiences to occasional church attendance. The Church hardly has meaningful contact, let alone impact on “the world.”
The Church that we read about in the Book of Acts changed the world. That’s the kind of church WE want to be. Pastor Walt is currently teaching through the Book of Acts. Join us Sundays at either 9:00 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. and let’s see if, with God’s help, we can be the Church that changes the world.
