Operate with Expectations

Posted by Josh Schlotterbeck on October 6, 2012

Matthew 14:16

As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

On the heals of the death of John the baptist, Jesus is emotionally charged and retreats to a remote place. Because of his popularity thousands of people follow him and expect him to minister to them.

And that’s what he does. He teaches them, he listens to them and ultimately he meets their basic needs. Well, he and disciples did demonstrating one of the most fundamental philosophies in ministry.

When working with Jesus, operate with expectations.

The presence of Jesus will draw people. To you. To you church. To your ministry. Those people will need to be filled with life in specific areas of their life. You will have an opportunity to exceed expectations.

The disciples expected Jesus to send the crowd home hungry because they had no food to give. But Jesus commanded the disciples to exceed their expectations.
